Description

Urine bag

A urine bag consists of a bag with a tube and a small socket at the end of the tube through which the urine bag is emptied. The catheter that is connected to the urine bag is a flexible plastic tube that is connected to the bladder through the penis and drains urine. The bladder is a balloon-shaped organ that holds urine. One end of the catheter is inside the bladder and the other end is connected to the urine bag.

Types of urine bags

In the medical field, there are different types of urine bags. Urine bags attached to the leg, night urine bags, baby urine bags, travel urine bags, men’s and women’s urine bags, etc., each of which we will examine below.

1. Urine bag attached to the leg: This model of urine bag is attached to the leg and you can easily do your daily tasks and move freely. This urine bag is easily hidden under clothing and is sold in different sizes.

2. Two-liter urine bag: The most common type of urine bag is the two-liter urine bag, which is mostly used for elderly patients or those who have to be hospitalized and lie on the bed. These bags can be attached to the bed, and the drain valve of these bags makes it easy to empty and use.

3. Male urine bag and female urine bag: Perhaps what distinguishes these two models of urine bags is the way they are used and placed. The catheter used in the urine bag used by men and women is made according to the genitals of each gender. In women, due to the short urethra, the length and diameter of the catheter tube are significantly shorter than the catheters used in male patients. In addition, the presence of the prostate gland in the male urinary tract, due to its vulnerability, completely eliminates the use of large-diameter dry catheters.

4. Travel urine bag: These bags, which are made in the form of male or female urine tubes, are used for the disabled, inpatients, and urology, dialysis, isolation wards in hospitals, emergency rooms, etc. Inside these bags, there is often a thick absorbent tissue placed inside the bag to absorb urine.

  • How to use a urine bag

Place the urine bag in its holder.

Clean the connection of the urine bag to the catheter of the catheter with alcohol swabs.

Place a towel under the bag and its port to prevent urine from leaking onto the leg.

Before connecting the bottom outlet of the bag to the catheter, make sure it is tightly closed. It is necessary to secure the bag in place in a stable manner. Make sure that it does not rest on the catheter tube and does not cause any problems or obstacles.

Connect the urine bag to the end of the catheter, gently insert the connector into the catheter port. When removing the catheter from the bag, you can prevent urine from dripping by bending the tube just below the tip and holding it. Be careful to keep the tip of the catheter clean when attaching the urine bag to the catheter. This will prevent germs from entering the urinary drainage system.

When the bag is full, empty it. To do this, move the clamp down. Straighten the flexible outlet tube to control the flow of urine. You do not need to remove it from the catheter when emptying the bag. Raise your leg to the edge of the toilet until it reaches the bag. Then you can empty the urine directly into the toilet. This way, you do not have to bend over, which can be uncomfortable.

Keep the urine bag clean. To reduce odor and keep the urine bag free of germs, wash it daily with water and vinegar.

Remember that the urine bag should always be placed at a level lower than the level of the bladder for proper urine drainage.

How to change a urine drainage bag at home?

During the day – if you need to change the urine bag – you can use drainage bags attached to the legs and at night drainage bags for sleeping.

To change a urine bag, you will also need:

  • A clean drainage bag
  • Soap
  • Cold water

To change a urine bag, the following steps must be followed carefully:

First, wash your hands with warm water and soap.

To wash the inside of the bag, use cold water and soap, making sure to remove all the soap (do not use hot water as this may damage the bag).

To disinfect the inside of the bag, mix one cup of cold water and one cup of white vinegar, fill the bag halfway with this solution, and then shake well.

Leave the bag in this state for 15 to 30 minutes. Then empty the solution and rinse with cold water.

Hang the bag in a place to dry.

Once you have placed the bag to dry, you can use a clean bag to drain the urine.

Wash your hands after you are done.

Important: The urine bag should be emptied when it is half full. Otherwise, the bag should be emptied every 8 hours.

Plate Cotter Connector Wire The plate cotter connector wire or plate cotter connector cable is the connector between the device and the plate cotter. This cable has high strength of the cable and its socket and includes a folding clip with the ability to be tightened. The cable length is 3 meters and can be sterilized. Before surgery, install the plate in a part of the body that has good blood supply and is hairless, away from the electrocardiography electrodes. Connect the connecting cable and check the device. The conductive gel covers more than the edge of the metal foil, which can prevent damage caused by the contact of the metal sheet and the skin. The cotter pad evenly distributes the electric current to make the surgery safer. The plate connector cable is available in two socket models for most single-edge plates and a needle model for most double-edge plate cotters.

Iranian plaster bandages in different sizes are used for plastering and immobilizing body parts after fractures. For plastering or splinting, an orthopedic plaster bandage, which is usually a regular plaster bandage or fiberglass, is used. After getting wet, these bandages are bandaged around the broken limb and harden, immobilizing and protecting it. A roll of cotton soaked in plaster can also be used to make plaster masks. It hardens very quickly and can be painted when dry.

Wicker glue

Efficient mat adhesive in wide and narrow sizes is usually used for dressing and post-operative care of wounds. Therefore, this type of adhesive is produced with special features. Mat adhesives are produced from polyurethane and synthetic polyester materials that are lint-free and hypoallergenic. This type of adhesive is a thin and flexible layer like fabric, which despite being lint-free, has many small pores. These open pores are made to allow air, moisture, and steam to pass through the adhesive layer, thus preventing skin sensitivity and leaving no scars, and keeping the skin in the wound area dry and clean at all times.
